Belfast is gearing up for a unique celebration of South African culture, music and sport when Bokjol 2026 takes place on 4 July 2026 at the Holywood Rugby Club in Northern Ireland.
This special opportunity forms part of the popular South African Community Day and promises to be a day and evening of pride, socialising and true South African spirit. Thousands of South Africans and friends of South Africa are expected to come together for an unforgettable experience of food, music and community.
The highlight of the evening is the Bokjol show – an energetic celebration of rugby spirit and Afrikaans music – with two of South Africa’s most popular artists, Jo Black and Refentse, sharing the stage for a performance that promises to captivate audiences.
Bokjol 2026 joins the excitement around international rugby and brings the famous “Bok spirit” to the United Kingdom, where South Africans get the opportunity to get together, celebrate their culture and keep their heritage alive – even far from home.
The day programme offers something for the whole family, including:
- traditional South African food and products
- live entertainment and local artists
- activities for children
- rugby on the big screen
- a strong sense of community that connects South Africans worldwide
Bokjol 2026 is presented by SA Events, already known for their worldclass South African entertainment to diaspora communities around the world. With their focus on quality productions and true South African experiences, SA Events plays a key role in the success of events like this.
“Our goal with Bokjol is to give South Africans abroad more than just an event – it is where music, sport and culture come together and people reconnect again,” says Arno Nel of SA Events.
The evening’s Bokjol concert is presented as a separate highlight and offers an opportunity for festival goers to end the day on a high note with music, dance and a true “kuier” atmosphere.
AfriForum Worldwide is proud to be involved as a partner in these types of initiatives that bring South Africans abroad together and help keep language, culture and community alive –regardless of where in the world they are located.
“Events like Bokjol not only create entertainment – it creates a sense of belonging. It reminds South Africans abroad that they are part of something bigger,” says Sue-Ann de Wet, Head of Diaspora at AfriForum Worldwide.
