Bokjol 2026 makes history with first show in Glasgow

For the first time ever the popular Bokjol experience will be held in Scotland when Bokjol 2026 takes place on 3 July 2026 at Slay Glasgow.

This exciting event brings a unique combination of South African music, culture and rugby spirit to Glasgow and offers South Africans abroad the opportunity to socialise and celebrate their heritage.

The evening’s programme focuses on the distinctive “Bok spirit” that connects South Africans worldwide, with a lively atmosphere, music and a real “kuier” experience. On stage are two of South Africa’s most popular artists, Jo Black and Refentse, who promise to captivate crowds with their hits and energetic performances.

Bokjol Glasgow forms part of a larger international series of events built around rugby and South African community celebrations, and connects directly with the Belfast event taking place the following day.

The event is presented by SA Events, an organisation already established as a leading provider of South African entertainment around the world – from the UK and Europe to Australia and North America.

“We see a growing need among South Africans overseas to experience that sense of togetherness and belonging again. Bokjol brings it all together – music, rugby and community – in one night,” says Arno Nel of SA Events.

With an energetic atmosphere, well-known music and a strong sense of togetherness, Bokjol 2026 in Glasgow promises to be a highlight on the diaspora calendar.

AfriForum Worldwide is proud to be involved in these types of initiatives that bring South Africans abroad together and help keep language, culture and community alive.

“Events like Bokjol create a space where South Africans can experience the feeling of home again – even if just for one night. It strengthens connections and reminds us of who we are,” says Sue-Ann de Wet, Head of Diaspora at AfriForum Worldwide.

Tickets for Bokjol 2026 in Glasgow is now available, and those who are interested are encouraged to secure their spot early.
