We were brought up in a culture in South Africa where you \u201chad to be seen and not heard\u201d or had to \u201cpull yourself together\u201d or \u201cswallow your tears\u201d. \u00a0Most South Africans grow up without ever being exposed to ways of looking after their mental health. That was my first thought when I first visited South Africa 25 years ago.
