AfriForum has announced that its appeal against the Equality Court\u2019s finding that the Kill the Boer <\/em>chant is not hate speech will be heard on 4 September in the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein. AfriForum made this announcement after Julius Malema, leader of the EFF, sang Kill the Boer<\/em> again this past weekend during the EFF\u2019s tenth anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AfriForum will be appealing the ruling in the \u201cKill the boer\u201d court case. The Equality Court declared the chant \u201cKill the boer\u201d not to be hate speech.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ruling creates a very dangerous precedent. The ruling sends out the disturbing message that the incitement of heinous murders on a certain group \u2013 based on their identities \u2013 is acceptable and carries no penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AfriForum has already laid the charges in October 2020 after supporters of the EFF had sung \u201cKill the Boer, Kill the Farmer\u201d outside the Magistrate\u2019s Court in Senekal, where the accused in the murder of the farm manager Brendin Horner had been on trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
