Very early one morning this past week I was reading a scripture in Malachi 2 which referenced Psalms 25:1. I turned there, but somehow it just didn\u2019t make any sense, until I realised that I had accidentally turned to Isaiah 25:1 \u2013 hellooooooo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet, perhaps I was meant to read these two together all along:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYou, Lord, are my God!
I will praise you
for doing the wonderful things
you had planned and promised
since ancient times.\u201d
Isaiah 25:1 CEV<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI offer you my heart, Lord God,
and I trust you.\u201d
Psalms 25:1,2 CEV<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was as if the Lord wanted to remind my (tired, forgetful, wavering) heart why I could trust in Him. For He had done all the wonderful things He had planned and promised since ancient times. With the creativity and perfect knowledge that only an Almighty God could have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Take Jacob, for instance. It was prophesied that Jesus would be born from the lineage of Jacob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jacob\u2019s marriage starts off with the drama and intrigue that are normally reserved for TV soaps.
A meddling father-in-law, restless love, and finally \u2013 an answer to his hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Lord uses both Jacob\u2019s biggest disappointment and his most cherished joy to accomplish His plan: Leah would become the mother of Judah, and Rachel the mother of Joseph.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Genesis 37 we meet Joseph. Had his life story ended up in the hands of today\u2019s screenplay writers, there would have been bloodshed as payback for what his brothers had put him through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the Lord has a plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He works forgiveness in Joseph\u2019s heart and peace prevails.
In this way, Judah\u2019s life is spared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the Saviour of the world is born from Judah\u2019s bloodline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can\u2019t even begin to think what is happening behind the scenes in the story of my own life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How the Lord is softening hearts,
opening doors,
closing others,
so that the wellbeing He is planning for me,
can come to fruition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is good to read of all the wonderful things the Lord had done, planned, and promised since ancient times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
May I never forget that my story is a part of His story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
