Give your child the head start of bilingualism. Learn, read and play in Afrikaans – internationally.

Welcome at Boekwurm! My name is Jeannie. I have been living in Sydney, Australia since 2018. Kieran is my Aussie husband who started learning Afrikaans in 2017, and we have to small boys. Our elder son was born in 2020.

I realised during the pandemic that it would be difficult to give our children a head start with Afrikaans. We believe that bilingualism is of inestimable value to our children. Boekwurm therefore had its inception in 2021 here in Sydney.

Since then, Boekwurm has sent packages to hundreds of families in Australia, New Zealand and Canada. We love getting to know our customers better through messages, telephone calls and social media. South Africans live and work in the most interesting towns!

It would be wonderful if our children could read, write and communicate with confidence in the language of their parents, grandparents and cousins. My aim is therefore to equip children and parents so that Afrikaans children in abroad can remain connected to the Afrikaans language and culture in an easy way.

On AfriForum Worldwide’s World Guide you not only become part of a business network, but it is also a valuable way of building a support network for those days when the longing becomes too much and everyone just seems too far away.

Help your business grow, use this link and make sure your business gets listed on Worldwide’s World Guide.

We would like to hear where you buy, who you talk to and what your network looks like abroad. Let us know at wereldwyd@afriforum.co.za.
