Blouwyn is a Romantic comedy-drama set against the beautiful backdrop of the quaint town of Philadelphia in the beautiful Western Cape. Sonia, a struggling actress feels the need to break away from her family home and start fresh and she decides to impersonate her twin sister as the pastor in a small community. Her father, Anthonie, also a pastor, struggles to deal with his wife’s double mastectomy and the lack of communication between them because of the rift which cancer created. But when the lives of 6 people of various ages intersect and tragedy strikes, it challenges the traditional thoughts and understanding of love, intimacy and the Until Death Do Us Part syndrome.
The film has a mixed cast of fresh faces and salted actors:
- SONJA POERSTAMPER is played by the vibrant LIZA DU TOIT who carries the film with energy and grace. Sonja goes through various emotions as the mask of smiles become the real tormented girl and her broken relationships wih men, including her father.
- LUKAS WINTERBACH is played by RENIER WEIDEMAN, known for his spiritual roles and films and he brings a believable romantic energy to screen with Liza. The conflict and friendship between Lukas and Sonja is a natural progression of a modern relationship.
- ALBERT MARITZ is the staunch PASTOR ANTHONIE POERSTAMER, the staunch father of Sonja who is seen as the rock of society, but his world and marriage is slowly crumbling.
