CHANGES TO INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL BENEFITS IMPOSED BY THE COUNCIL FOR MEDICAL SCHEMES (CMS) ON ALL MEDICAL SCHEMES GOING FORWARD

The Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) published Circular 45 of 2018: International Travel Benefit, on 28 September 2018 whereby they institute changes and limitations to the international travel benefits that medical schemes are allowed to offer.
As this is a directive from the CMS, Bestmed (and other medical schemes) need to conform to the provisions of the circular within 30 days. All policies already issued for 2018 and 2019 during 2018, will be honoured.
Herewith the letter Bestmed sent to their members. However, the terms apply to other medical schemes as well.
