World Guide in focus: Facebook communities

AfriForum Worldwide’s World Guide boasts 40 categories of businesses and service providers all over the world.

The World Guide allows you to build a strong support network by connecting you with an expat community in your area. Apart from the value of this network, the World Guide Facebook communities offer a platform where you can stay up to date with the latest events while being able to express your culture.

This month we are focusing on Facebook communities in our network you can support.

SAWITU

Living in a foreign land, far from everything and everyone close to her heart, the idea for SAWITU was born because the heart of a woman had a yearning for a sense of belonging, community, and support. Antonet Lombard De Ridder created the Facebook group called SAWITU (South African Women in the United States and Canada) on 31 October 2017.

SAWITU is now a family of sisters, all with the same yearning deep within them. Read more.

South African artists in Aus and NZ

We arrange and promote South African events in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA, the United Kingdom and Europe. This includes artists such as Barry Hilton, Juanita du Plessis, Emo Adams, Chris Chameleon, Dozi, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Laurika Rauch and more. SA Events also support community events that have a South African flavour. Read more.

Afrikaans speaking people residing outside of Southern Africa

A study into the attitude and customs of Afrikaans speaking people residing outside of Southern Africa was launched in 2012. The study is still ongoing and consists of two branches. Read more.

Labyrinth For Lemonade – Immigrant Women Together in NZ

Labyrinth for Lemonade creates events where you will be surrounded by like-minded women, where you will be inspired and motivated by speakers about topics that are specifically of importance to you as an immigrant woman. Read more.

South Africans living in Bristol

This is a community page for Southern Africans and Zimbabweans living in Bristol and Bath. Read more.

Saffas in Tokoroa and Putaruru

I seem to find people speaking Afrikaans all over Tokoroa and Putatruru and then never see them again. This is a platform to find fellow South Africans and giving each other advice about where to find the best boerewors locally for instance, helping your fellow Saffa settle into town and maybe having a lekker get-together every now and again. Afrikaans in Australia

Everyone in Australia who would like to keep their ability to read and write Afrikaans alive are encouraged to join this group. Members are therefore encouraged to communicate here in Afrikaans, including when they are promoting events such as shows by artists from South Africa. Read more.

A forum for UBUNTU between South Africans living in Scotland. A space to belong and share with one another about our lives, ideas, business and communities so we can grow and be better together. Read more.

This group is a supportive community for parents and grandparents whose children have emigrated. We understand the unique challenges and emotions that come with having loved ones living abroad, and this group is here to provide a safe space for sharing experiences, offering support, and finding solace among those who truly understand.
