Voter registration weekend abroad: 26 and 27 or 27 and 28 January 2024.
Check the exact dates at your local South African mission.
If you are a South African living abroad, you must ensure that you are registered correctly to be able to vote abroad and bring about change in 2024.
Being registered only as a voter back in South Africa doesn’t mean you can vote abroad. You need to register to vote abroad at a specific voting station.
Two options are available on how to register to vote abroad:
- Register online via the IEC platform: https://online.elections.org.za/voterportal/voter/registration/abroad
- Register in person at your nearest South African mission during the upcoming voter registration weekend to be held abroad. A mission includes your South African consulate, embassy, high commission or liaison office.
Insert your identity number on the IEC voter registration status checker to check your registration status: https://www.elections.org.za/pw/Voter/Voter-Information.
